The corridor with this amazing ceiling has frescoed maps all the way down. This hallway was commissioned in 1580 by Pope Gregory XIII. It’s like the Google Earth of ancient times, with the whole of Italy in smaller portions painted on the walls. There are also some maps depicting famous battles.
