"Mars of Todi", bronze, almost lifesize, 5th century BCE

It’s rare to see a bronze figure that is Roman let alone one that is from ancient Greece as the bronze was so precious it was melted down and recycled into other sculptures or weapons/tools. Most of the Roman marble statues that we see are copies of Greek bronzes (the Romans admired the Greeks for their artistry) and after the sculpture was copied the bronze was reused. It’s nice to see one and this one is quite lovely.
