Vatican Museum, Cortile della Pigne (Courtyard of the Pine) with Pomodoro sculpture, 1990

The last time I went to the Vatican Museum my entire goal was to see the Sistine Chapel without a room full of people so we got in line (with our kids then) very early in the morning so we would be among the first in to the museum. As soon as we got inside we ran (literally) to the Sistine Chapel and had a good 1/2 hour in there before anyone else came. It was magical but we were so tired we didn’t see anything else so this time we took our time exploring. If you were to walk the entire museum floorplan you would walk a good 3 miles. We didn’t do that but enjoyed this courtyard as a little respite though I have to say seems they could have done better than the Pomodoro. I’m not a big fan though he is Italian.
