The cathedral was one of the first things rebuilt in Noto and then the whole thing collapsed in 1996 for no apparent reason though art historians and architectural experts think it’s because Italy does not do such a great job on upkeep. But isn’t this a cathedral belonging to the Church? In any case the whole thing was rebuilt again.
