Obelisk of Santa Maria sopra Minerva (elephant)

It’s hard to believe there are any obelisks left in Egypt as there are so many just in Rome. This one sits on top of an elephant designed by Bernini but carved by someone else. The elephant embodies intelligence and piety. It stands in a small piazza just steps away from the Pantheon.
