What we’ve learned is that the Borghese, Pamphili, and Barberini families were quite wealthy and thanks to them there are amazing collections of art to look at from ancient Greek and Roman works to works from the Baroque period (17th century). The interesting thing is how they got their wealth- they had a relative or two or three who became popes and that elevated their status as well and allowed them to amass property and access to great works of art.
