Vestibule of Polyphemus, Villa Romana del Casale

This mosaic is in a room adjacent to the “Big Game Hunt” and depicts Ulysses and Polyphemus in a cave. Polyphemus is the larger figure holding a disemboweled ram on his left knee, while about to take the krater of wine from Ulysses with his right hand. Ulysses goal was to get him drunk so he could blind the extra eye in the forehead.
