New addition to the collection of the archaeology museum in Agrigento was this beautiful delicate piece that was found in excavations under an ancient Roman house. Apparently, this work was taken by a Roman soldier who hid it along with coins (not photographed) and some other gold jewelry in his house but was killed before he could do anything with them and did not tell anyone so only discovered recently. The technique comes from the ancient Egyptians. For those taking my 1A class, remember the head covering the prehistoric women were wearing? This reminds me some of that.
