City walls, Valley of the Temples

The city walls had nine entry gates and while it looks like these walls fell down, it’s actually an example of how one group overtook another and repurposed the structure. The Romans had no need for these walls as the temples had been abandoned and so they turned the walls into quarries for their purposes. That is why they look so rough and you can see big blocks chiseled out of them.
