Ancient Port of Akragas

Ancient port of Akragas

If you look at the waters’ edge you will see a little gap. That is where two rivers that had joined higher up flowed into the ocean. This is where the Greeks situated their port to bring goods to the colony and to export as there was quite a bit of trade in the Golden Age of the colony. This area was heavily forested and the Romans denuded virtually the entire island of Sicily for the wood to build ships, etc. It changed the climate permanently. The rivers are a fraction of what they were if at all and it is a very arid climate. Let that be a lesson to anyone who doesn’t believe in climate change. We did see lots of solar panels, windmills, but pollution as well.
