Greek Theater, Catania

Greek (Roman) Theater, Catania, 1st century CE

This is actually a Roman theater built on the remains of a Greek theater. In Roman times it could seat 7000 people for performances and competitions. Bellini (the opera composer) lived in one of the houses built over the theater after it was abandoned.
